Schmaltz Locks In 8-Year, $64M Mammoth Megadeal
Nick Schmaltz inks an eight-year, $64 million extension with the Utah Mammoth, committing through the 2033-34 season just as the team claws for their first playoff berth. The 30-year-old center, riding a career-high 24 goals and 59 points in 65 games, passes on free agency to anchor Utah's young core alongside extensions for Logan Cooley and JJ Peterka. GM Bill Armstrong calls it a great day, but the real test comes with $17.9 million in cap space and a wild-card lead they cannot squander.
