Rangers’ Dream Draft Target May Not Make It to No. 5

The Rangers may have their eye on a perfect-fit draft target, but the board is not doing them any favors. The problem with loving a prospect in the top five is that everybody else in the room usually had the same film session. If the player is gone before New York picks, the Rangers will be forced into the less glamorous work of Plan B and a whole lot of second-guessing. This is the kind of draft pressure that can shape a franchise’s mood for years.
