The proposed swap would have sent Morgan Rielly and Nic Roy to Edmonton for Darnell Nurse, which tells you this was not a casual phone call. When a deal like that gets turned down, you know the Leafs either liked their current setup more than the market did or they did not want to be the team left explaining it later.
