Watch Penguins Sidney Crosby score career goal 500

Pittsburgh Penguins superstar captain Sidney Crosby has been inching toward the major milestone of 500 goals for awhile.

The superstitious Crosby has not spoken publicly since nearing the mark, but his teammates have talked about it behind closed doors.

“There hasn’t been silence about it,” linemate Bryan Rust said. “It’s been talked about a little bit. But it’s not something that’s consistently brought up.”

Against a bitter rival in the Philadelphia Flyers, Crosby scored his 50th career goal. That also happened to be his 500th career goal as well.

On the power play, Crosby parked himself to the left of Carter Hart and converted a feed from Evgeni Malkin.

“Hey Sid! Congratulations on your 500th goal,” Penguins legend Mario Lemieux said. “I’m sure they’ll be plenty more in the future.”
