Tuukka Rask leaves Bruins as he opts out of the remainder of the playoffs
Tuuka Rask leaves Bruins in a stunning move today. The goaltender has issued a statement as he opts out of the remainder of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Tuukka Rask leaves Bruins
The 33 year-old goaltender is 1-4 for the B’s in the Return to Play format, including Round Robin play. If you think Tuukka Rask may not have been all there in the Bruins last game against Carolina, this is likely why.
Tuukka Rask is opting out of the remainder of the Stanley Cup playoffs. “I want to be with my teammates competing, but at this moment there are things more important than hockey in my life, and that is being with my family,” Rask said in a statement.
Rask’s situation better explained

Bruins GM, Don Sweeney spoke to the media today. “I don’t think it’s any big surprise to us,” he said. Rask has a newborn and two other small children as well. Sweeney gave Rask credit for making the difficult decision and keeping the priority on his family.
Of course, from a hockey standpoint this is a stunning blow for the Bruins. Rask is their number net minder but that will now fall on to 35 year-old Jaroslav Halak.
Unfortunately for the B’s Halak did not look good in his only start so far. He let in fours goals on 29 shots back on August 2nd, in a loss against the Flyers.
