Seattle Kraken ink skilled defenseman Vince Dunn for two-years, $8M
The Seattle Kraken announced on Friday a new two-year deal worth $8 million for defenseman Vince Dunn. Both sides will avoid arbitration. The contract has a $4M AAV.
Dunn, 24, scored 6 goals and 14 assists for 20 points in 43 contests last season. In his young career, he’s totaled 102 points in 267 games.
Kraken sign Vince Dunn

“Vince is a mobile, puck-moving defenseman that can help generate offense from our blueline,” GM Ron Francis said in a statement. “He’s a smooth skater that helps drive possession and plays a physical game.”
The Seattle Kraken selected Dunn from the St. Louis Blues in the Expansion Draft on July 21st. There was some talk that he could be traded, but this new deal makes it less likely.
As for Dunn, he’s excited to be a member of the Kraken. Francis put an emphasis on the blue-line and the 6′ lefty should play a big role for Seattle.
“I’m very excited for this next opportunity,” Dunn said to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch recently. “The way they talked about the organization from top to bottom with management and ownership, it seems like they’re taking no shortcuts on anything whether it’s the practice facility or the [salary] cap,” Dunn said. “There’s a comfort level just to know that everyone’s all in.”
