Suspended Kane placed on waivers
On Oct. 19, Kane received a 21-game suspension from the NHL for violating COVID-19 protocols. He reportedly submitted a false COVID-19 vaccination card.
His suspension ends Monday, as San Jose plays its 21st game Sunday against the host Chicago Blackhawks.
Kane is in the fourth year of a seven-year, $49 million contract he signed with the Sharks in May 2018. He is still owed more than $20 million on that deal, per the Mercury News.
Last season, Kane led the Sharks in goals (22) and assists (27) while appearing in all 56 games.
He has 264 goals and 242 assists in 769 career games for the Atlanta Thrashers (2009-11), Winnipeg Jets (2011-15), Buffalo Sabres (2015-18) and Sharks.
Matt Murray clears waivers
Matt Murray and the Ottawa Senators did not expect to be here after signing a 4 year extension worth $6.25.
On Sunday, he cleared waivers and will be assigned to their AHL club in Belleville.
In his brief time with the Sens he is 10-18-1 with a GAA of 3.35 and SV% of just .892 in 33 appearances. Murray, 27, is also winless this season for Ottawa (0-5-0).
