Report: Hurricanes GM says “resolution coming in the next few days”
As news continues to come in regarding the NHL’s proposal to the players of a 56 game schedule and a mid-January start, an eyebrow raising comment was made yesterday.
Don Waddell states Hurricanes will play at PNC Arena
Yesterday, Don Waddell the Carolina Hurricanes GM spoke with PNC Arena landlord Centennial Authority. “I don’t have the crystal ball but I know the commissioner has been saying Jan. 1,” Waddell said. “I think it will be sometime in January that we will be playing games at PNC Arena but we just don’t have anything definite as of yet.”
Agreement coming soon?

The most compelling comment he made was what sounded like an inside scoop. “I think we’re going to come to a resolution there in the next few days,” he told them.
This certainly sparked interest as hockey insiders chased down the story. Lo and behold we received word this morning that the NHL in fact spoke with the NHLPA yesterday. It appears that the two sides came to an understanding to start in Mid-January as Waddell indicated.
There is still the economics to work out, but there now appears to be hope where there was none just days ago.
