Report: Blue Jackets are expected to leave Max Domi unprotected

Reports are surfacing that the Columbus Blue Jackets plan to expose Max Domi in the Seattle Expansion Draft. According to Darren Dreger, if they indeed do so, the Kraken are expected to select him.

Max Domi’s rocky journey continues

When Domi came over from Arizona to Montreal in 2018, he had a great season. The then 23 year-old registered 72 points in 82 games and looked destined for stardom in a Habs uniform.

The following season was rough. Domi’s numbers dipped and was bounced around the lineup by then head coach Claude Julien. He finished with just 44 points in 71 contests. Domi was traded to Columbus for Josh Anderson prior to the start of this season.

Unfortunately, things didn’t improve with the Blue Jackers. In 54 games he was only able to notch 24 points. What could be next for the 26 year-old Domi may be slipping on a Kraken jersey.

For Seattle, it would be a great move in claiming a young forward that can play center. He has one year remaining at an affordable $5.3 million cap hit before becoming a UFA. If things work out, Ron Francis should work to extend him. Worst case scenario; the Kraken could move him at the trade deadline for a draft pick.
