Nikita Zadorov avoids arbitration with Calgary Flames; signs 1-year deal worth $3.75M
Restricted free agent defenseman Nikita Zadorov avoided arbitration after signing a one-year, $3.75 million contract with the Calgary Flames on Friday.
Zadorov had a salary arbitration hearing scheduled for Thursday. He played the past two seasons on identical one-year, $3.2 million deals.

Zadorov signs with Flames
The 26-year-old Russian was acquired by the Flames in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks on July 28 in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.
Zadorov recorded eight points (one goal, seven assists) in 55 games with the Blackhawks last season. He was traded to Chicago from the Colorado Avalanche on Oct. 10, 2020.
Zadorov, who is listed at 6-feet-6 and 235 pounds, has collected 83 points (23 goals, 60 assists) in 411 career games with the Buffalo Sabres, Avalanche and Blackhawks. He was selected by the Sabres with the 16th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft.
Zadarov also caused a stir with a Russian interview discussing his former teammate, Nathan MacKinnon’s nutrition rules.
