NHL Trade: Maple Leafs acquire Ryan Dzingel, send Nick Ritchie to Coyotes
The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired forward Ryan Dzingel and defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin from the Arizona Coyotes. In exchange, forward Nick Ritchie and a conditional pick (2023 third rounder or 2025 second round) goes the other way.
Maple Leafs make a trade
When the Maple Leafs needed to replace what they lost in forward Zach Hyman they took a flyer on Nick Ritchie, whom the Bruins simply let walk as an RFA.
After signing a two-year contract with an AAV of $2.5 million in the offseason, things really haven’t panned out and he’s now on the way to Arizona.
Ritchie, 26, has 9 points in 33 games this season.

“We are excited to have Nick join our roster,” Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong said. “He is a big (6-foot-3, 236 pounds), tough, strong winger who will add depth and physicality to our forward group.”

Coming to the Leafs are Ryan Dzingel, who can chip in offensively, and right-handed defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin.
Dzingel, 29, has 7 points in 26 games this season. His cap hit is just $1.1 million and he is a pending UFA.
Lyubushkin, 27, has 9 points (all assists) in 46 games to go with a -6 rating and 26 PIM. The defenseman will be a UFA in July and comes with a $1.35 million AAV.
