Jakob Chychrun remains at the top as he has for a while now, but there’s been some movement and chances since the last time we posted this list last month.

A look at the top trade candidates

Jakob Chychrun: The 24 year-old defender has 8 points in 9 games since returning from injury and his desire to be traded has been public for awhile. The Ottawa Senators were considered the frontrunner to land the Coyotes defenseman over the summer. They balked at Arizona’s asking price. Another team that is a potential destination are the Los Angeles Kings, who have a deep prospect pool. Chychrun has 3 years remaining on his contract with an excellent AAV of at $4.6 million. Keep an eye on the Columbus Blue Jackets and Buffalo Sabres as other potential landing spots.
Brock Boeser: Vancouver has been playing better of late but the watch remains on as to the future of coach Bruce Boudreau and some of their star players. One of those players is 25 year-old Brock Boeser, who has four goals and 16 points in 21 games this season for the Canucks. The big winger still has two more seasons at $6.65 million remaining on his contract and this could very well be a preemptive move for Vancouver to move out salary in order to re-sign captain Bo Horvat. So far, up to six teams are interested in acquiring him.
Patrick Kane: The 34 year-old superstar has 20 points in 26 games this season. He will be a UFA this summer and has a full no-move clause to control where he lands. The Blackhawks will also need to retain 50% of his $10.5M cap hit. Potential landing spots are the New York Rangers, Colorado Avalanche, Boston Bruins, and Edmonton Oilers. You should expect more teams as the deadline draws closer.
Vladimir Tarasenko: Latest reports indicate that Tarasenko has not rescinded his trade request and is very open to a move. He’s coming off a great season where he recorded 34 goals and 82 points in 75 games. The scoring forward has 20 points in 25 games in 2022-23.
Jonathan Toews: He is no fan of the rebuild Chicago is planning and will likely be looking to waive his no-move clause come the next trade deadline. The Hawks will have to eat half of his $10.5M contract in order to entice a team to take the pending UFA. After struggling last season, Toews has 14 points in 25 games and looking more like his old self.
