NHL Rumors: Victor Mete wants out of Montreal, Penguins almost had Vince Dunn, and Tony DeAngelo on waivers – prelude to a trade?

The Montreal Canadiens are off to a great start, that isn’t stopping Victor Mete from requesting a trade. According to his agent, they’re willing to work on any deal to get him out.

NHL Rumors: Victor Mete wants a trade

The 22 year-old defenseman has yet to play a game for the Canadiens and is looking for a new opportunity. Mete’s agent Darren Ferris told Pierre LeBrun that at this point it would be best he gets traded for both parties.

Of course, what a young defenseman wants and what he’ll get are two different things. Apparently, Habs GM Marc Bergevin has no interest in moving him right now.

NHL Rumors: Tony DeAngelo on waivers, precursor to Vince Dunn trade?

NHL TRADE RUMORS RANGERS

Last night I reported that the Rangers have interest in 24 year-old lefty blue-liner, Vince Dunn. Today, they stunningly have put Tony DeAngelo on waivers – someone is bound to pick him up.

The Rangers placing a 25 year-old defenseman on waivers is stunning. Last year’s fourth leading scorer among defenseman may very well be claimed and thus freeing cap space for the Rangers to trade for Vince Dunn.

NHL Rumors: Penguins were close to acquiring Dunn

Apparently before Jim Rutherford resigned he was closing in on a deal for Vince Dunn.

Sources close to the process on both the Penguins side and the St. Louis Blues side each told Hockey Now that Rutherford was circling St. Louis Blues defenseman, Vince Dunn.

How close the two sides came remains to be seen. What is becoming evident that a number of teams in the East are all contending for his services.
