NHL Rumors: TSN Trade Bait Board released, Bruins in on Jack Eichel, and John Tortorella’s future with Blue Jackets
The NHL Trade Deadline is just six weeks away, and even though some believe it will be a quiet one the rumor mill still churns. Let’s check out the latest happenings out there.
NHL Rumors: TSN Trade Bait List released
Frank Seravalli released his annual Trade Bait Board for TSN yesterday. According to Seravalli it’s based on the star power of the player along with the likelihood they will be traded at the deadline.
Let’s look at the top 5:
- Mattias Ekholm D, NSH
- David Savard D, CBJ
- Tony DeAngelo D, NYR
- Brandon Montour D, BUF
- Taylor Hall, F, BUF
It really isn’t surprising to see four defenseman in the top five. They are always a hot commodity. Aside from DeAngelo and Ekholm all in the top five would be considered a rental.
NHL Rumors: The Bruins will be after Jack Eichel

Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic has tossed in the Bruins name into the Jack Eichel trade hat. In his latest article an NHL source familiar with Eichel says, “I just don’t see any way [Boston] can’t be all over him.”
Let me first begin by saying, I don’t see the Bruins having anything close in assets to trade for Eichel. At least not to beat the two most talked about teams in the Kings and Rangers.
Additionally, it seems like this is due to the fact Eichel is from Chelmsford, Massachusetts more than anything else. I don’t see Boston as an option here. Need I also remind you the Bruins and Sabres are in the same division next season.
NHL Rumors: John Tortorella gets a vote of confidence
John Tortorella was asked about his job security after his team’s 5th straight loss. His response was expected.
“You know what … I never worry about that,” Tortorella said. “I do my job the best I can. If people want to make decisions on me, that’s their decision. I never worry about that. I go about my business, and I’m going to coach this team the best way I possibly can.”

Today, GM Jarmo Kekalainen gave Torts a vote of confidence.
