NHL Rumors: Tony DeAngelo trade imminent, Vince Dunn a Canucks option, and Leafs ask for Travis Dermott
Today’s latest NHL Trade rumors is focused on defensemen. As three of the most talked about blue-liners are are either about to be traded or on the market.
NHL Rumors: Tony DeAngelo trade imminent
Pat Brisson spoke with Darren Dreger on Monday and noted that his client is at home waiting for a deal. It was revealed that the Rangers are in talks with teams interested in the 25 year-old defenseman. He was the 4th leading scorer last season for blue-liners.
The consensus is that the Rangers are willing to eat up to 50% of DeAngelo’s 4.8M cap hit. That would be quite a bargain for any team looking for an offensive right handed defenseman. Even with that, the Rangers would probably not garner more than a 2nd round pick or possibly a disgruntled player in return.
Calgary is said to be in the market for a defenseman and Sam Bennett, a center may be a trade candidate. Regardless, I expect we will officially hear the Rangers involved in trade talks for Vince Dunn soon.
NHL Rumors: Canucks and Vince Dunn
It’s already been established that some of the teams that could already be in on Vince Dunn included the Penguins, Rangers, Flyers, Jets, and Canucks. Thomas Drance of The Athletic took a deeper dive on the connection.
There’s some LTI-related gymnastics awaiting the Blues front office on the horizon, so they’d ideally be looking for picks in return for Dunn, as opposed to a young forward,” he writes. “Which would make for a simpler and more appealing deal from a Vancouver perspective, particularly considering the Canucks’ own tight cap situation.”
This speaks to the return many believe the Blues are looking for because of their cap situation. So it comes down to trading partners that can take more money on and have the right picks to make the deal.
NHL Rumors: Travis Dermott ask from Leafs
Travis Dermott has been in the rumor mill for awhile now and was also considered a player exposed to the Seattle Kraken. The believed ask for Dermott is a top 9 forward.
