NHL Rumors: Sabres reporter thinks it’s time to lower ask on Jack Eichel; and RFA Anthony Beauvillier update
Another day, and another Jack Eichel trade rumor article. Yes, I am tired of writing them as much as you are reading them. However; he remains the biggest player on the trade block who is absolutely going to be dealt.
The only question is when and for what?

NHL Rumors: Sabres need to lower their asking price
According to John Vogl who covers the Sabres for The Athletic, there haven’t been many trade negotiations. He also admits that GM Kevyn Adams may need to lower his demands in order to make something happen.
“Obviously, no one has met it these last fourth months (or the last 12 if you’re the Rangers). Despite words to the contrary, Adams knows he can’t bring Eichel back,” he writes. “While I wouldn’t say he has to “become realistic,” I would say the GM needs to lower his demands at least a little. It’s understandable why he hasn’t — you get only one chance to trade a franchise center — but no one else is blinking.”
David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period also reported that sources told him Jack Eichel has not had any surgery. The dispute between a traditional fusion procedure or artificial disc replacement still rages on. This means Eichel will miss the start of the season and maybe longer.
All these factors point to the Sabres having a hard time getting the package they want for him. So will Adams acquiesce a bit? It’s still not likely at this point.
Anthony Beauvillier

The Islanders have $11 million in cap space with only 19 players under contract. While it is rumored that Casey Cizikas, Kyle Palmieri, Zach Parise, and even Travis Zajac have deals yet to be announced, there’s been little news on RFA Anthony Beavullier.
Beauvillier, 24, has become a key player for the Isles. This past season he scored 28 points in 47 games and appears to only be getting better. While there is little chance he will be receiving an offer sheet, teams are interested in trying to acquire him.
The Ottawa Senators have been linked and may be willing to make a deal if Lamoriello is in a cap bind and Beauvillier is a casualty because of it. Don’t think it will happen? You just need to look down the Midtown Tunnel and see what the Rangers did with Pavel Buchnevich.
That being said, I believe Lamoriello does whatever he has to and keeps Beauvillier. A one-year deal seems like the most likely option.
