NHL Rumors: Ron Hextall as Penguins GM, Maple Leafs in on Sam Bennett, and Keith Yandle a Kraken

The NHL rumor mill continues to buzz with Sam Bennett being a healthy scratch for tonight’s Flames and Jets contest. It appears the Maple Leafs who are looking for third line help may be in on him.

NHL Rumors: Maple Leafs in on Sam Bennett

The Toronto Maple Leafs are eyeing the situation in Calgary very closely and could be ready to make a move for gritty forward, Sam Bennett. Of course, Kyle Dubas has to find a way to work some cap magic for a trade but there’s a possible connection dating back to the offseason.

The Flames were believed to have express interest in Leafs defenceman Travis Dermott in the off-season. Dermott, though a left shot, plays both the right and left side of the blueline; his cap hit, however, is just $874,125.

NHL Rumors: Ron Hextall the Penguins GM?

It’s pretty wild to imagine the Flyers iconic goaltender guiding their biggest rival’s future. Ron Hextall will be interviewing for the Penguins vacant GM job after Jim Rutherford resigned abruptly.

NHL Rumors: Keith Yandle a Kraken

We haven’t heard much on the Keith Yandle front, and why would we? The Florida Panthers are playing winning hockey and he’s a big part of it.

However, his future is still in question and over at Florida Hockey Now they speculate that the Panthers may ask him to waive his no move clause. This would allow them to expose Yandle to the Seattle Kraken in the expansion draft come July.

Current rules dictate all players with a no-move or no-trade clause must be protected. Keith Yandle would look pretty good in Seattle and I’m sure if available, Ron Francis would consider it.
