NHL Rumors: Holtby in Vancouver, Markstrom in Calgary, but big UFAs homeless
The opening bell of free agency opened over seven hours ago and there’s been a multitude of signings. According to Frank Seravalli the overall count is down and the majority of deals are under three years.
NHL Rumors – No homes yet for Pietrangelo, Hall, and Krug
As of this article, the big three UFAs are not signed yet. It also hasn’t been for a lack of trying. It sounds like Pietrangelo is still trying to stay in St. Louis, while Hall has been courted by a number of teams including Montreal, Boston, Columbus, and Calgary. As for Krug, no real word yet on where he might land.
Braden Holtby moves to Vancouver

In a bit of a surprise, Holtby signed with the Vancouver Canucks after they would not give Jacob Markstrom the deal he was looking for. Holtby is signed for two seasons.
Jacob Markstrom goes to the Flames
Calgary went all out and gave Markstrom a 6 year deal at $6 million per season. The Flames officially have a legit #1 goalie.
Other notable signings
The Toronto Maple Leafs got bigger and tougher on defense signing T.J. Brodie.
Sadly, Bryan Little’s career could be over.
