NHL Rumors: Patrik Laine trade partners, Pierre-Luc Dubois in Colorado or Tampa, and is Aleksander Barkov available?

The NHL Rumors Mill doesn’t slow down at The Daily Goal Horn. Here’s the latest batch of credible tidbits of information out there in the hockey world on some of the biggest names available.

NHL Rumors: Patrik Laine has no shortage of suitors

Patrik Laine remains day-today for the Winnipeg Jets. He also remains the biggest name likely to be traded this season. There was speculation about a one-for-one swap with Pierre-Luc Dubois but the latter has already expressed his interest in playing for the Canadiens.

Of course, Jarmo Kekalainen isn’t the only sane GM that would love to add Laine to their offense.

The Jackets aren’t alone. You can include the Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers, New Jersey Devils and Chicago Blackhawks as teams that would be interested in Laine. People have talked about the Carolina Hurricanes having interest, but that makes zero sense because they wouldn’t want to shell out that kind of cash.

While the Flyers reportedly had serious conversation this offseason for Laine, don’t sleep on the NJ Devils in acquiring the big Finn.

NHL Rumors: Unexpected trade destinations for Pierre-Luc Dubois

Interesting thoughts from Elliotte Friedman recently on two teams not previously mentioned in Dubois talks, primarily because of cap issues.

I do think there are some very, very good teams in the weeds on Dubois, waiting to see how the Blue Jackets handle this. I’d be very curious to know what Colorado and Tampa Bay think.

While this is very interesting, I’m not sure how those teams can make the money work. Maybe for next season, but Dubois is likely looking for $10 million on his next deal when the current expires in 2022.

NHL Rumors: Is Aleksander Barkov Available?

Hockey Insider, Darren Dreger was on NBCSN and had these interesting remarks about Barkov.

“It’s hard to say at this point,” Dreger responded to the seriousness of Barkov’s name in the rumor mill. “Barkov wants to win, and he wants to make sure the Florida Panthers are on that road. If that is the direction the Panthers are headed, Barkov will listen.”

Dreger continued with many GM’s have already reached out to Bill Zito of the Panthers. If they can’t work a new deal out, those teams are willing to deal for him.
