There’s a lot going on right now around the hockey world. From reports of lawsuits against the NHL, to teams looking at playing outdoors to generate ticket revenue, here’s the latest.

NHL Rumors: Teams exploring outdoor games

In a report from TSN’s investigative reporter Rick Westhead, NHLPA lawyers are looking into filing a lawsuit should the NHL cancel the season via ‘Force Majeure’.

The NHL Players’ Association’s lawyers are investigating whether to file an unfair labour practice complaint with the U.S. National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) or pursue a grievance with an arbitrator if the NHL decides to cancel the upcoming season, two people familiar with the matter told TSN.

This is all coming off the heels of Gary Bettman’s comments that the NHL is not trying to renegotiate the CBA. Those remarks sparked outrage from players and agents, in particular the very vocal Allan Walsh.

According to a new report from Pierre Lebrun the following teams are looking into the possibility of playing outdoor games:

  • Pittsburgh Penguins
  • Florida Panthers
  • Boston Bruins
  • LA Kings
  • Dallas Stars
  • Carolina Hurricanes
  • Nashville Predators
