NHL Rumors: Matt Dumba on the block, Marc-Andre Fleury trade, and more
The offseason is moving. Albeit a little slowly with the fact that the playoffs are still ongoing. When it comes to NHL rumors they have been picking up steam with each passing day and are expected to get really noisy next week.
NHL rumors – Wild shopping Matt Dumba
Yesterday, the Minnesota Wild locked up defenseman, Jonas Brodin to a 7 year deal with an AAV of $6 million. A new report in The Athletic indicates that Matt Dumba is being actively shopped.

If that is the case, expect the Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks to be in on the 26 year-old right-handed defenseman. Dumba has 2 years left on a deal that comes with an AAV of $6 million. He also has a modified no trade clause that will kick in at some point before next season, ergo why they are shopping him now.
NHL rumors – Marc-Andre Fleury asked for his no trade list
Another report has Marc-Andre Fleury submitting his 10 team no-trade list to the Vegas Golden Knights. Things have been tumultuous to say the least in these playoffs with MAF’s agent, Allan Walsh tweeting a photo of the goalie with a sword in his back and the name DeBoer on the handle.
TSN’s Darren Dreger believes Walsh, may include suitors on that list that would have interest thus making it harder for Vegas to trade him. This will be an interesting storyline to follow.
NHL rumors – Montreal will not trade or leave Carey Price unprotected
The Montreal Canadiens will be a fun team to follow this offseason. GM, Marc Bergevin was recently asked if Carey Price would be moved or exposed in next summer’s expansion draft to Seattle. He called Price and several other players “untouchable” and even said, “you can put it in print.”
Brendan Gallagher is also looking for a new deal next summer, but made a pitch for Max Domi to be retained. The Habs have their hands full and recently acquired defenseman, Joel Edmundson. Some believe this is a precursor to a potential blockbuster.
NHL rumors – Kyle Clifford
The Leafs acquired Kyle Clifford at the deadline, but it looks like he wants to become a UFA.
NHL rumors – RFAs
Yesterday, I wrote about the potential for some RFA’s that may not get a qualifying offer and thus become unrestricted. While it will be hard to see any team do that for their top guys like Max Domi in Montreal, Tony DeAngelo in NY, and Mat Barzal on Long Island it is a possibility with lower end RFA’s thus making it a very intriguing October for sure.
