NHL Rumors: Maple Leafs have a trade coming; Blackhawks scratch Mattias Janmark; and Kings getting serious interest in Alex Iafallo
Hold your horses Maple Leafs fans as it sounds like another trade is in the hopper. With goaltender Frederik Andersen heading to LTIR, head coach Sheldon Keefe said “there’s a move there” and he will leave it to Kyle Dubas to handle.
Toronto Maple Leafs have another trade coming
Dubas has over $5 million in cap space now to play with and the potential to make one big move or maybe two consequential ones. The bottom line here is the Leafs aren’t done as they’ve been in the mix for several of the big name rentals on the market.
Taylor Hall, Mikael Granlund, and possibly Nick Foligno if he wants to move on are on their list. A move for a defenseman can’t be ruled out either as David Savard would also be a great fit. This is an all or nothing year for the young GM and the Leafs so expect another trade.
Blackhawks scratch Mattias Janmark

The Blackhawks are scratching pending UFA Mattias Janmark for a potential trade. He has 19 points on the season and could be a nice depth add for a contender. Janmark is 28 years old and will be a UFA at the end of the season, His AAV against the cap is a manageable $2.25 million which many teams could fit on to their rosters.
“I’m pretty used to it,” Janmark said March 22 when asked about the deadline. “I’ve been on one-year deals the last four years, so I’m trying not to think much about it. You’re always aware when the deadline’s coming up, but it’s out of your control. I signed a one-year deal to improve my value and set myself up for the future, whether that’s here or [somewhere] else. But I’m trying to play my best hockey, and that’ll help me later on.”

Alex Iafallo and Kings still talking but a trade possible

One of the more intriguing names to pop up on out trade bait board has been the Kings Alex Iafallo. According to Frank Seravalli, L.A. is starting to take calls on the 27 year-old pending UFA.
For the first time, Kings GM Rob Blake has engaged with teams on the prospect of moving pending free-agent winger Alex Iafallo this week as a contract extension has not materialized. Because of that, and his potential impact and interest, Iafallo has jumped up to No. 5 on the TSN Trade Bait board.

I believe the Kings want to keep Iafallo and extend him to a reasonable deal. He’s currently a top six fit, but I don’t think GM Rob Blake wants to do a deal of more than 4-5 years. Iafallo’s camp is likely looking for something along the lines of 6-7 years. They are continuing talks but a trade is possible by 3PM ET Monday.
