NHL Rumors: Lundqvist deal done, Jets trade for Stastny, and more

NHL Rumors leads off with Henrik Lundqvist likely to be the first signing announced. Hockey Insider, Bob McKenzie is reporting that a one year deal with the Capitals is set for $1.5 million.

If, as expected, the one-year deal is $1.5M, it would be fitting. That would make Lundqvist “whole” on $4.5M salary he was scheduled to get for 20-21. $3M of it would be in his buyout from the Rangers (paid out over two years) but $1.5M would top him back up to $4.5M total.

NHL Rumors – Jets get a center

The Winnipeg Jets were rumored to be looking for a center and they did it via a trade today. GM Kevin Cheveldayoff has re-acquired Paul Stastny to address his center needs.

Sounds like the Ducks have interest in bringing back Sami Vatanen, and he wants to go back.

NHL Rumors – William Nylander available?

Darren Dreger is also reporting that the Leafs may be seriously shopping William Nylander. This is one to watch today.

Darren Dreger on TSN1050: Thinks chances TOR "shops" Nylander are "pretty good". "Shopping" is a dirty word for some GM's. Kyle Dubas would disagree that they're "shopping" him. Other teams will call TOR about him. Have to clear space somehow if they want Pietrangelo.
