NHL Rumors: Kraken coaching candidates, realistic Rangers offer for Jack Eichel, and Bruins looking for defense
The Seattle Kraken have been very wise to hold off on naming coach. That’s paid off as Claude Julien has become available since the Canadiens let him go.
Who else could become available?
NHL Rumors: Kraken coaching candidates
There is no doubt in my mind that at least a handful of current coaches in the NHL will be available at the end of the season. To me, none bigger than possibly John Tortorella in Columbus.
A report has surfaced that the Blue Jackets didn’t extend him due to cash constraints. That could play into Seattle’s favor come the summer. Other names to keep a look out as per Mike Johnston at Sportsnet are as follows:
- Gerard Gallant
- Bruce Boudreau
- Rikard Gronborg
- Rod Brind’Amour
- Todd Nelson
- Mike Vellucci
Brind’Amour’s name is intriguing simply because of his ties to Ron Francis. I still believe the Hurricanes extend their coach in the near the future.
NHL Rumors: A realistic Rangers trade offer for Jack Eichel

In today’s feature at Forever Blueshirts, I dive deep into the Jack Eichel situation and why the Rangers will not overpay for him. After several conversations with people in the know and reported information out there I was able to ascertain what a realistic package could be for the Sabres star.
I believe a fair offer from the Rangers would look something like Vitali Kravtsov, a roster player, a young prospect defenseman (Nils Lundkvist or Braden Schneider excluded), and a first round pick.
If the Sabres can get better than that, so be it. That’s because the Rangers feel that Eichel isn’t the only center that will be available this summer. Names expected to be shopped are Aleksander Barkov, Evgeni Malkin, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Dylan Larkin, and possibly Sidney Crosby.
NHL Rumors: Bruins want to bolster blue-line
It’s the one area you here most about when it comes to the Bruins. makes you wonder why they let Zdeno Chara walk. According to Boston Hockey Now they propose what I’ve said earlier this season, revisit a deal for Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
Per Jimmy Murphy the Bruins are still in the market for a left shot defenseman. OEL makes sense to me.
