NHL Rumors: Kings in the market for a defenseman, Jeff Skinner’s agent calls up Sabres GM, and Canucks GM has called every team
The L.A. Kings are playing some solid hockey and that has GM Rob Blake looking to improve. On the latest TSN Insider Trading, it appears they want a “dynamic” left handed rearguard.
NHL Rumors: Kings looking for defenseman
“Kings are looking for a defenseman..25 or under,” Darren Dreger said. “[Rob Blake] specifically wants a dynamic left-shot defenseman. I’m reminded of the big trade that involved the Blue Jackets and the Predators, Ryan Johansen for Seth Jones, if something like that could be worked out, [Blake] would do that in a heartbeat.”
The Kings do have a plethora of forwards to make a move in that regard. It’s also been noted by others that Rob Blake is in no rush to make a move and will bide his time.
NHL Rumors: Jeff Skinner’s agent calls Sabres GM about scratches

The 28 year-old Jeff Skinner has just one assist in 14 games this season. He’s also been a healthy scratch for thee straight games. This prompted his agent, Don Meehan to call Sabres GM, Kevyn Adams to voice their concerns.
Skinner’s agent, Don Meehan, told The Buffalo News on Thursday morning that he had a lengthy conversation with Sabres General Manager Kevyn Adams on Wednesday in which Meehan expressed his and Skinner’s concerns. Meehan declined to reveal what was discussed on the call.
Buffalo News
Skinner’s regression from his 40 goal season in 2018-19 is stunning. He has 6 more years on his deal with a staggering AAV of $9 million. That contract is considered one of the worst in the NHL today.
NHL Rumors: Canucks GM calling everyone
The Canucks are a mess and they are in panic mode. Despite the words of calm, cool, and collectiveness from their owner recently, GM Jim Benning sounds like he’s scrambling to save his job.
“I can tell you from talking to teams around the league, there hasn’t been a team that hasn’t heard from Jim Benning,” Pierre LeBrun revealed on Insider Trading yesterday. “If he can, what he’s looking for is a top 9 forward in that 25 and under group that will fit with his young core.”
It seems that Vancouver may already be looking to the future.
