NHL Rumors: Khudobin to free agency, Wennberg buyout, and more goalies added to flooded market

The goalie market just keeps growing and growing. Two more names are now being added to the mix tomorrow. Also with so many teams starving for centers, the Blue Jackets put one out for the taking as well.

NHL Rumors: Anton Khudobin wants to get paid

The Dallas Stars playoff hero, Anton Khudobin isn’t getting what he wants from the team in a new deal. He and his agent have told Dallas they will hit the market.

If you want me to be honest, I think this one will bite Anton on the rear. I expect he finds this flooded market won’t be good for him and may wind up signing in Dallas for less than what they offered him now.

Additionally, Corey Perry will be available tomorrow and I expect the Leafs and Canadiens to go after him.

Columbus buys out center, Alex Wennberg

The main reason why the Jackets are buying out Wennberg is financial. Doing it now at his age rather than next season means they only need to payout 1/3 versus 2/3 due.

This was also solidified with the acquisition of Max Domi and his new two year deal. It put Wennberg lower on the depth chart and not worth the remaining term and money on his deal.

I expect any team looking for a center to check in. Keep your eyes on the Jets and Rangers.

More goalies headed to market

On top of Khudobin jumping in the free agent goalie pool, the NJ Devils are buying out Cory Schneider. Add also Corey Crawford as the Blackhawks confirmed they will not re-sign him.

What a mess.
