NHL Rumors: Flames offer for Jack Eichel has Matthew Tkachuk in it

Fans in Calgary are probably checking their heart rates. According to Kevin Weekes’ the Flames offer for Jack Eichel consists of Matthew Tkachuk, an upcoming first round selection, a former first, and two prospects.

If this is the deal, I’m not sure how in the world the Vegas Golden Knights can beat it. At the same time, what in the world are the Buffalo Sabres waiting for to make deal?

Flames Darryl Sutter says Eichel rumors are media driven

Flames head coach, Darryl Sutter was asked about the Jack Eichel trade rumors involving Calgary today. “I wasn’t aware of that,” he said. “That’s just a media thing, to be quite honest. He’s an inactive, active player.”

Obviously Sutter would not come out and say a trade was close or that he even had knowledge. It’s still amusing to see this melodrama play out in real time.

Regarding the trade, there’s been more talk surrounding the Vegas Golden Knights being close to making a deal than anyone else. Per David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, he says Vegas has made an offer and that it’s up to the Sabres to either accept it or counter.

The Sabres have remained steadfast in their stance that they will not retain salary in any Eichel trade. Some of the hold up could very well be involving a third team to help with retaining some of Jack’s $10M AAV for the remainder of his deal (4 more years).

Can Sutter be telling the truth? Is this a ploy to get more out of the Golden Knights? It remains to be seen, but maybe an answer is coming.
