NHL Rumors: Ducks garage sale upcoming, Jack Eichel tops another trade board, and Carey Price on the move

The Anaheim Ducks are getting ready to have a garage sale this deadline. They’ve been a hot topic this season as an aging team with little cap room desperate to change things.

Adam Henrique was recently placed on waivers with no takers, and Ryan Getzlaf will only be moved if he asks. So what’s up in Anaheim?

NHL Rumors: Ducks have multiple players available

This past weekend, the Ducks were close to acquiring Jake Virtanen from the Canucks for Danton Heinen. The deal fell through because the two sides couldn’t make the actual money work.

Now TFP is reporting that Heinen is just one of many players on the market for Anaheim.

Heinen joins forwards Adam Henrique, Jacob Silfverberg and Rickard Rakell as pieces the Ducks are willing to take trade calls on. All four players are having less than impressive statistical seasons, and Henrique, who cleared waivers last week and scored last night in his first game back in the lineup, and Silfverberg are locked up for three more seasons. Rakell has one-year remaining on his deal.

The Fourth Period

In order to move Henrique, the Ducks are going to have to eat some serious salary as he has 5 years left on a deal that pays him $5.825 million AAV. Rackell and Silfverberg will be sought after pieces in the deadline and will certainly help restock the shelves going forward.

NHL Rumors: Jack Eichel places #2 on The Athletic’s Trade Board

We released out Trade Bait Board this past weekend and put Jack Eichel at #5. Over at The Athletic he’s as high as #2 with Mattias Ekholm taking the top spot.

So why is Eichel so high?? Because according to anonymous executives, they think he’s going to the Rangers – or maybe L.A. soon.

“I think at the end of the day, Jack Eichel is going to end up a New York Ranger,” predicted one executive. “I just don’t know when that’s going to be.”

Another source they spoke to believes the Kings have the better match if they are willing to give up Quinton Byfield or Alex Turcotte. That and the fact the Sabres may just want to send him West.

NHL Rumors: Carey Price on the move?

File this one under unlikely for me, but according to Florida Hockey Now, multiple sources said multiple teams called on Carey Price. It was also noted two of those teams may have been the Oilers and Avalanche.

I have a hard time seeing the Canadiens trade their franchise goalie and turning the reins over to Jake Allen for the foreseeable future. Maybe this bubbles back up at the draft, or maybe it won’t.

I’ll go with Price retiring in Montreal.
