NHL Rumors: Blues shopping Vladimir Tarasenko, and Flyers aggressively going after Seth Jones

The St. Louis Blues have a projected $17 million in cap space heading into next season. They also have only 7 forwards under contract and that’s not going to be enough fill out a competitive lineup.

That may change in some fashion this offseason.

NHL Rumors: Blues shopping Vladimir Tarasenko

According to Frank Seravalli, Tarasenko who has two years remaining at $7.5 million per and a no-trade clause is open to a move.

The St. Louis Blues are exploring a trade for star winger Vladimir Tarasenko. While Tarasenko does hold the cards with a full no-trade clause, upon further vetting, it appears the player has alerted St. Louis to several teams he’d be willing to be dealt. A change of scenery is in order.

Frank Seravalli, Daily Faceoff

The 29 year-old is one of the game’s better offensive players. He scored a career high 40 goals back in 2015-16 and has 442 points in his nine seasons. He also comes with a lot of risk. His injury history is not something teams will take lightly, but offensively starved teams will most certainly be giving the Blues a call.

Early buzz I’ve picked up is the L.A. Kings are a prime landing spot for his services.

Flyers closing in on Seth Jones

It sounds like the Philadelphia Flyers have made acquiring Seth Jones their offseason priority. This should not come as a surprise to anyone who follow the Flyers.

Flyers chairman, Dave Scott voiced his frustration to the Philadelphia Inquirer in May. “I’m angry. I’m frustrated,” he lamented. “Everyone keeps saying they’re disappointed, and it’s beyond disappointment where we’re sitting today.”

According to Sam Carchidi the Flyers chairman believes they need another scorer, top pairing defenseman, and a backup to Carter Hart. “All I can tell you is that we’re going to have a busy summer.” Scott continued. “I’m determined to get his thing back on track, and that ‘s everything from spending to the cap and giving the resources to Chuck and A.V. (Alain Vigneault).”

Seth Jones will have no shortage of suitors this summer. I noted that the Flyers and Stars would be two teams that will likely make offers for him at the draft. It appears his trade to the Flyers after the expansion draft is becoming increasingly more likely.
