NHL Rumors: Anthony Duclair with Bruins? Johnny Gaudreau trade destinations, and Zdeno Chara update

The Boston Bruins are looking around for some more offense up front. They also don’t have a load of cap space with just under $3 million to play with. At one point, the Bruins were looking at Mike Hoffman but he is likely heading to Nashville or Columbus who both have significantly more cap room.

NHL Rumors: Bruins and Anthony Duclair

Looking at the Bruins need for additional offense, Joe Haggerty of BHN suggests they make a play for Anthony Duclair. Honestly, who wouldn’t want a 25 year-old goal scorer? The Senators apparently, as they let him walk since he was looking for too much money.

Duclair did score 23 goals and 40 points in 66 games last season, but is having a hard time finding a team. Duclair is representing himself and should find a home soon. The latest rumor mill buzz was the L.A. Kings having interest. Let’s see if Boston does make a move for him.

Johnny Gaudreau remains a fixture in trade rumors

Johnny Gaudreau of the Calgary Flames has been in the NHL trade rumor mill for over a year. The speculation started in The Athletic back in November and persists today.

In a new article on Bleacher Report, they look at 5 possible trade destinations for the 27 year-old NJ native.

  1. Buffalo Sabres
  2. Columbus Blue Jackets
  3. NJ Devils
  4. NY Islanders
  5. Philadelphia Flyers

My opinion is that the Sabres, Devils, and Flyers make the most sense. While the Jackets are interesting, I don’t see a perfect fit. As for the Islanders, not sure who they could trade to make room for Gaudreau’s cap hit of $6.75 million.

“Same status quo there. Waiting to reconnect with (agent) Matt (Keator) and Zdeno,” Sweeney said. “Zee continues to evaluate what the landscape of the league looks like and we’ll see where it goes.”
