NHL Recaps: Bruins rally past Penguins at Winter Classic, and more
NHL Recaps: January 2, 2023
The schedule for Monday was light with just three games. Both the Vegas Golden Knights and Philadelphia Flyers were victorious on the road. However, all eyes were on the NHL’s showcase outdoor event to start the new year.
Historic Fenway Park was the stage for the 2023 Winter Classic. Hometown fans in Boston watched their beloved Bruins rally in the final period to top the Pittsburgh Penguins.
According to the NHL’s website, Bruins veteran forward Nick Foligno delivered a speech during the second intermission that helped lead his team to an exciting finish.
“This is an event and it’s a dream come true, and we don’t want to waste it,” DeBrusk said, relaying Foligno’s message. “You don’t want to come after a game like tonight and think you could have done more or wish you would have done something because you never know, it’s very rare if you get another chance to do it. I think it was more just along the message that we know what we can do together as a group, we’re the best third period team in the League and let’s go prove it.”NHL.com
