NHL News: Trevor Zegras leads US to Gold, Divisions get sponsors, and Kraken hire assistant GM
Trevor Zegras was confident that Team Canada hadn’t been tested coming into the Gold Medal game at the WJC. It turns out, he was right.
“You could tell they hadn’t seen that kind of ground game from any other team in the tournament,” he said after the win. “We got a couple of quick goals early in those periods and from there we just kind of put it on shutdown mode and played great defense.”
The United States won it all and Zegras scored a goal and an assist in a 2-0 shutout over the favored Canadians.

The Anaheim Ducks must be smiling from ear-to-ear this morning. Zegras was selected 9th overall in the 2019 Draft and looks like a star in the making.
Without a doubt, the 19 year-old winger from Bedford, NY played with poise and was the best player in the tournament. He finished with 18 points in 7 games.
Congrats to Trevor Zegras and the entire U.S. National Program.
