NHL News: Tim Stuetzle signs ELC with Senators, Blue Jackets Mark Letestu retires, and opt out update
The Ottawa Senators said they would be fast tracking their way back to contention and continue to be aggressive this offseason. Fresh off the heels of trading for Derek Stepan, the Senators announce the signing of first round pick, Tim Stuetzle.
NHL News: Senators sign Tim Stuetzle
Selected third overall in this past NHL Entry Draft, the 18 year-old native of Germany has signed his three year entry-level contract.

“Tim possesses an exceptional blend of both speed and skill and a playmaking ability that our fans are going to enjoy watching for several years to come,” Senators general manager Pierre Dorion said on the team’s website. “He’s a dynamic forward who we expect to become a key piece of our roster as we continue trending towards icing an eventual elite-level team.”
Stuetzle is currently in action for Team Germany at the WJC. The captain of the squad scored a beauty in his first game since recovering from a wrist injury.
Mark Letestu announces his retirement from the NHL
Mark Letestu has called it a career after 12 NHL seasons and at the age of 35.
“I stretched it out as long as I could. I loved every second of my career. I never had to go to work for a living. It’s pretty amazing to be able to do what I’ve done for as long as I got to do it. That’s awesome.”

NHL Opt-Out update
Apparently, one player opted-out last week. According to Darren Dreger, that player is not yet known.
In other news, AHL defenseman, Casey Nelson of the Buffalo Sabres organization has decided to opt out.
