NHL News: Rangers hit with $250,000 fine, Marc-Andre Fleury third all-time in wins, and Shayne Gostisbehere suspended two games

The New York Rangers found out the cost for speaking truth to power and it’s $250,000. In a statement released by the NHL, they made it clear they would not tolerate the comments directed at a league executive.

“Public comments of the nature issued by the Rangers that were personal in nature and demeaning of a League executive will not be tolerated,” said NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman. “While we don’t expect our Clubs to agree with every decision rendered by the Department of Player Safety, the extent to which the Rangers expressed their disagreement was unacceptable. It is terribly unfair to question George Parros’ professionalism and dedication to his role and the Department of Player Safety.”

This fine is 50x the amount levied against Tom Wilson for sucker punching Pavel Buchnevich and body slamming Artemi Panarin. Wow!

Marc-Andre Fleury third all-time on NHL win list

On Wednesday night, Marc-Andre Fleury defeated the Minnesota Wild 3-2. In doing so, he claimed career win 490 and now owns third place on the ALL-TIME wins list passing Roberto Luongo. Next up on is Patrick Roy with 551, and the 36 year-old goalie has a legit chance and passing him.

Number one is out of reach in my estimation. Martin Brodeur stands tall at the top with 691 victories.

Shayne Gostisbehere suspended two games

The NHL has suspended Flyers defenseman, Shayne Gostisbehere for a hit from behind two games. It will cost him $77,586.20.
