NHL News: Price back Monday for Habs; Ovechkin aims for Brett Hull; and updated COVID List
Montreal Canadiens star goalie, Carey Price will be joining the team on Monday. Back on October 7th, he voluntarily placed himself in the League’s Player Assistance Program.
“He’s going to be here on Monday and obviously we haven’t seen him in a month, we haven’t talked to him,” coach Dominique Ducharme said Friday. “So he’s going to be coming in and he’ll see our therapist and see where he’s at. And then from there we’ll build a plan.”
Carey Price return to play not set
Price, 34, is former Hart and Vezina Trophy recipient owning a 360-257-79 record with 49 shutouts, a .917 save percentage and a 2.50 goals-against average in 707 games (695 starts) since Montreal drafted him No. 5 overall in 2005.
As for a timetable of when Price is expected to play, it’s impossible to figure out.
“We’re going to take a look at everything we can do to get him ready to play,” Ducharme explained. “That’s one thing we can look at, but nothing’s sure.”
Price is also coming off rehab for a surgically repaired knee. He will not only need to see where he’s at mentally, but physically as well before any date can be established.
Ovechkin aims for Brett Hull

Alex Ovechkin will be looking to move up another spot on the NHL’s all-time career goals list on Saturday night.
One goal shy of tying for fourth on the all-time list, Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals will face off against the visiting Philadelphia Flyers hoping to avoid a third straight defeat.
Ovechkin, 36, recorded his 10th goal of the season Thursday at Florida, and No. 740 for his career to move one behind Hall of Famer Brett Hull.
Ovechkin, who again ranks among the NHL scoring leaders with 18 points in 10 games, has totaled 42 goals in 63 career contests vs. Philadelphia, including at least one in six straight meetings.
Though Washington has won six of seven against the Flyers, it will need to regroup after suffering its first regulation loss of the season at Tampa Bay on Mondayb before falling 5-4 in overtime to the Panthers.
“We have to take a point anyway we can,” Ovechkin told NHL.com.
