NHL News: Pastrnak gets tricky, 3 teams hit hard with COVID, and more

David Pastrnak rallied the Bruins (7-1-2) last night in their 4-3 OT win against the Flyers (7-2-2). The contest was decided off the stick of Patrice Bergeron (6th of the year), but Pasta’s hat trick (goals 3,4, and 5) is what got them there.

Playing in only his third game of the year after offseason surgery to repair, has 7 points. His hat goal was scored with just 15 ticks on the clock. He finished the game with 4 points as he a Bergeron had a hand on all the Boston goals.

“Recovery was really long, something that I haven’t had in my career,” Pastrnak said after the victory. “As soon as I stepped on the ice and I felt like I did after the surgery, then I knew I can get my conditioning up and be feeling great.”

There was only one other game last night and it saw the Lightning (6-1-1) crush the Red Wings (2-7-2) 5-1. Tampa had 5 different goal scorers in the game with Brayden Point scoring his 4th of the season.

The New Jersey Devils now have 17 players on the NHL’s COVID protocol list. Their last opponent, the Buffalo Sabres now have 4 players on the list and are unhappy about it. Buffalo games are postponed until February 8th.
