NHL News: Jonathan Drouin leaves Canadiens for personal reasons, TBS off to a terrible start covering hockey, and more
Montreal Canadiens forward Jonathan Drouin is leaving the team for personal reasons. According to head coach Dominique Ducharme, “He’s away for personal reasons and it’s important to respect that. We’re here to support him. Let’s respect that.”
Jonathan Drouin takes leave of absence from Canadiens
The 26 year-old forward was acquired by the Habs from the Lightning back in 2017-18 in exchange for Mikael Sergachev. As to the reason why Drouin is taking this leave there isn’t much to go on except for comments by teammate Phillip Danault.

“I don’t want to go into details. I’m a Quebecker, I know what it is to play in Montreal,” Danault began. “Playing in Montreal has its ups and downs. We put so much pressure on ourselves. In Montreal, everything is amplified, expectations everything. Sometimes we just take it personal. We want to play well, we start to put pressure on ourselves and it becomes difficult. Jo is my friend. Yes I am worried but he will come back. There are more important things than hockey.”
As for the hockey side of it, the Habs placed Drouin on LTIR which gives them roster flexibility. Expect a lot of Cole Caufield from here on out.
Well TBS is off to a great start covering hockey
It certainly has nothing to do with Shaq unable to name three hockey teams, the man is an NBA legend. Nope, it was the graphic in the segment they used to promote signing the NHL to a 7 year deal. Instead of current Oilers captain Connor McDavid it was…Andrew Ference.
Blackhawks lose Adam Boqvist for season
Adam Boqvist will need surgery on his wrist after breaking it in a collision last night. He is out for the season.
