NHL News: Connor McDavid dazzles with a hat trick, Patrik Laine makes statement, and more
Hockey fans were given tons of thrills and impressive performances on night two of the season. It certainly didn’t take long for some of the game’s brightest stars to get to work and two of them stood out last night.
NHL News: Connor McDavid dazzles with a hat trick
Thatcher Demko got the start for the Canucks and was impressive with 41 stops, but he couldn’t stop Connor McDavid. The Oilers captain helped his team bounce back from the previous night’s loss with a great performance.
“We came out with a lot of energy, it seemed like we had a just a little more juice than they did, but that happens in a back-to-back,” McDavid explained. “Our power play was good, our pk was good, and 5-on-5 I thought we did a pretty good job as well.”
McDavid finished the night with four points while last year’s MVP, Leon Draisaitl picked up for helpers.
NHL News: Patrik Laine brushes off trade rumors and leads the way

Patrik Laine’s words during camp when asked about being traded still resonated heading into the season.
“I’m here aren’t I?,” he told reporters. Well indeed he is as Laine picked up three points in Winnipeg’s first game. The most rumored player to be traded scored twice including the game winner in OT.
“Hopefully, I can just build off that game. There’s a lot of things we need to work on, and the three points are not going to tell the true story of the game,” he said afterwards. “Obviously, it’s a good start. You’ve got to produce, so that was good, and it was two big points for us.”
