NHL News: Another realignment coming, Rasmus Dahlin on COVID list, Khudobin speaks about benching, and more postponements

Things are reaching that worrisome point in the NHL. As more players hit the COVID list, more games are being delayed. It’s going to be a real challenge to complete this season and the league may be forced to decide standings on point percentage.

No one wants that.

NHL News: More games postponed

The league announced today additional postponements. This is due to the high amount of players the Devils, Wild, and Sabres have on the COVID list.

Two more Sabres games (Feb. 11 and Feb. 13 vs. Washington); three more New Jersey Devils contests (Feb. 11 and Feb. 13 vs. Philadelphia and Feb. 15 vs. Boston) and two additional Minnesota Wild games (Feb. 11 vs. St. Louis and Feb. 13 vs. Los Angeles).

Another member of the Buffalo Sabres has been added to the COVID list. This time Rasmus Dahlin is the latest addition. He joins eight other Sabres including Taylor Hall, Rasmus Ristolainen, Tobias Rieder, Dylan Cozens, Curtis Lazar, Jake McCabe, Brandon Montour, and Casey Mittelstadt. Head coach Ralph Krueger is also on the list.

We wish the Sabres and all on the list a speedy recovery.

NHL News: Is more realignment coming?

The silver lining coming out of this pandemic shortened season is the buzz the new divisions and schedules are generating. All around the league fans and media are enjoying the baseball like home-stands.

“We recognize that, under the circumstances, this season’s divisional alignment has generated a great deal of interest and excitement,” Gary Bettman said in email to The Athletic. “We will evaluate the experience and try to determine what we might apply going forward.”
