NHL News: Action packed night sees 74 goals scored, Matthew Tkachuk flips his lid, and more
The Maple Leafs (6-2) continue their winning ways, edging the Flames (2-2-1) 4-3 in Calgary. It was a hard fought battle and an intensifying rivalry this season.
At the end of the game, Jake Muzzin intentionally flipped the puck into Matthew Tkachuk’s chest while he was down on a knee. That caused sparks to fly as the young agitator didn’t like being agitated himself.
NHL Scores: Only one goalie safe in last night’s goal-fest
There were 13 games on the docket, and only John Gibson was able to avoid the goal barrage last night. The Ducks (3-2-2) were able to beat the Coyotes (2-4-1) 1-0 on the strength of his performance in net.
The Avalanche (4-3) scored 7 times with six different goal scorers, and pummeled the Sharks (3-4) 7-3. In Winnipeg a total of 10 goals were scored as the Jets (5-2) topped the Oilers (3-5) in a barn-burner 6-4.
Two teams that had their season’s postponed due to COVID remain undefeated. The Stars (3-0) beat the Red Wings by a score of 2-1 in OT. Meanwhile the Panthers (3-0) were able to top the Jackets (2-2-3) 4-3 in a shootout.

In other action, Jack Eichel scored his first goal of the season and the Sabres (3-3-1) beat the Rangers (1-4-1) 3-2. That was also the Baby Blueshirts 4 straight one goal loss. The Capitals (4-0-3) scored late to defeat the Islanders (3-3) 3-2, and the Bruins (4-1-1) survived a wild one against the Penguins (4-2-1) to win 3-2 in OT.
