The Washington Capitals announced the re-signing Wednesday of forward Joe Snively for two years and $1.6 million.

Snively, 26, made his NHL debut on Dec. 19 and has registered four goals and three assists in 12 games this season.

“Joe is a versatile, skilled forward, and we are extremely pleased with his development this season,” general manager Brian MacLellan said in a news release. “Joe has worked hard and put himself in a position to earn a spot on our team. It is a great testament to him and all the local youth hockey coaches and programming in our area that guided him along through this journey.”

Snively also has 38 points (15 goals, 23 assists) in 35 games this season with the AHL’s Hershey Bears.

Undrafted out of Yale, the Virginia native signed as a free agent with the Capitals in March 2019.
