NHL likely to cancel games today in solidarity move

The NBA and WNBA cancelled games yesterday and today in protest to the shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin. According to the latest reports, the players will not cancel the season and are in talks to resume this weekend.

NHL took heat yesterday

Many wanted the NHL to follow suit with the NBA, but the Islanders and Flyers were just concluding their game when it all went down. The league opted to move ahead with their schedule and it was met with criticism.

NHL discussing to postpone playoff games today

Evander Kane who is a founder of the Hockey Diversity Alliance has called on the league to cancel today’s games.

We the @TheOfficialHDA have formally requested the @NHL to suspend all playoff games today. We strongly feel this sends a clear message that human rights take priority over sports.

Reports are that NHL Commissioner and the players are discussing this option. The Vancouver Canucks and Golden Knights is now listed a To Be Announced, so there is a strong possibility this will happen.

Barry Trotz says his players are having a discussion about whether or not they'll play tonight. He believes the Islanders-Flyers game will go ahead but believes it's important for the players to use their platforms.
