BREAKING: Mike Milbury steps down from role at NBC
After comments made during a recent NBC broadcast, Mike Milbury is stepping down from his role as an analyst for the remainder of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The next question remains, is this the end of the story or will NBC let him go as has been rumored.
Mike Milbury steps down
The beleaguered commentator released a statement just moments ago that read:
In light of the attention caused by my recent remark, I have decided to step away from my role at NBC Sports for the remainder of the StanleyCupPlayoffs. I do not want my presence to interfere with the athletes as they try to win the greatest trophy in sports.
NHL condemns Milbury and notifies NBC

The NHL issued a statement on the matter and even contacted NBC Sports about the comment Milbury made calling women a distraction to the players.
“The National Hockey League condemns the insensitive and insulting comment that Mike Milbury made during last night’s broadcast and we have communicated our feelings to NBC. The comment did not reflect the NHL’s values and commitment to making our game more inclusive and welcoming to all.”
Soon thereafter, an NBC Spokesperson said they have discussed that matter with him and released Milbury’s apology. “I sincerely apologize for making the comment,” he said. “I was trying to be irreverent and took it a step too far.”
It wasn’t long after that NBC pulled him off the broadcast. Stay tuned as this story is still evolving.
