The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired veteran defenseman Mark Giordano from the Seattle Kraken, multiple media outlets reported Sunday.

According to several reports the final package is as follows:

To Toronto: Mark Giordano (50% retained) and Colin Blackwell
To Seattle: two 2nd-round picks and a 3rd-round pick

Giordano, 38, has recorded 23 points (six goals, 17 assists) in 55 games this season as team captain for Seattle, which acquired the Toronto native in the expansion draft from the Calgary Flames, where he had spent 15 seasons.

He has accumulated 532 points (149 goals, 383 assists) in 1,004 games with the Flames and Kraken. He won the 2018-19 Norris Trophy as the league’s top defenseman and took home the 2019-20 Mark Messier Leadership Award.

“We want to thank Mark for his time with the Kraken,” said General Manager Ron Francis in a statement. “As the organization’s first captain, he made an immediate and lasting impact both on and off the ice.

“We appreciate the energy, passion and hard work that Colin brought to the rink every day and we wish him and Mark the best in Toronto.”
