Kevin Fiala inks 1 year deal with Minnesota Wild for $5.1M

The Minnesota Wild announced the signing of forward Kevin Fiala to a one-year deal worth $5.1 million. Both sides were scheduled to face an arbitrator tomorrow, with Fiala’s camp seeking a $6.25M award. The Wild countered with an offer of $4M.

As expected, they were able to meet somewhere in the middle and avoid any unpleasantries.

Wild and Fiala agree to 1 year deal

The 24 year-old Fiala had an excellent season for Minnesota. In 50 games, he scored 20 goals and 20 assists for 40 points that included 5 game-winning goals. For his career, he has registered 198 points in 337 games between Nashville and Minnesota.

In a rare move, the Minnesota Wild opted to exercise their club option for salary arbitration after Fiala did not file for player elected arbitration.

They did so in order to ensure that Fiala would be under contract for the start of the season. Currently they are dealing with the uncertainty of Kirill Kaprizov’s next contract.
