Islanders have another game rescheduled due to impending winter storm
Saturday’s game between the Seattle Kraken and host New York Islanders in Elmont, N.Y., was postponed due to the winter storm approaching the Northeast U.S.
The game was rescheduled for next Wednesday, Feb. 2, the NHL announced Friday.
Islanders game against Kraken rescheduled
The league cited a weather-related state of emergency declared Friday by New York Gov. Kathy Hochul. Up to 16 inches of snow are forecast to fall on the Long Island area during Winter Storm Kenan, with winds as high as 55 mph.
The Islanders, who are also scheduled for home games Sunday and Tuesday against Minnesota and Ottawa respectively, have yet to face the expansion Kraken. Their first meeting was originally supposed to come Jan. 4 in Seattle, but the Isles had a four-game road trip postponed due to their Canadian opponents’ attendance restrictions.
The Kraken are already on the East Coast, having beaten the Penguins in Pittsburgh on Thursday. They are scheduled to play the New York Rangers on Sunday and the Boston Bruins on Tuesday.
