The Dallas Stars signed defenseman Jani Hakanpaa and forward Michael Raffl on Thursday.
Hakanpaa, 29, signed a three-year, $4.5 million deal through the 2023-24 season.
Raffl, 32, inked a one-year, $1.1 million contract for the 2021-22 campaign.
Dallas Stars add to roster
Hakanpaa split the 2020-21 season with the Anaheim Ducks and Carolina Hurricanes and registered two goals and two assists in 57 games. He was third in the league with 215 hits.
Hakanpaa made his NHL debut in 2019-20 and tallied one goal in five games with the Ducks.
“Jani is a big, physical defenseman that sees the ice well and skates at a high level for a man of his size,” said GM Jim Nill in a statement. “He is a reliable penalty killer and will help balance out our backend.”
Raffl split the 2020-21 campaign with the Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals and contributed 11 points (four goals, seven assists), including three game-winning goals.
Raffl has 163 points (82 goals, 81 assists) and 219 penalty minutes in 514 games for the Flyers (2013-21) and Caps, who acquired him from Philadelphia in an April 12 trade for a 2021 fifth-round draft pick. The Stars chose defenseman Ty Murchison.
