Daily NHL trade rumors: Red Wings, Rangers, Blue Jackets, and more light the lamp
Welcome to The Daily Goal Horn! The brand new site that is ready to light the lamp for hockey news, trade rumors, and so much more. Everyday, we will bring you your daily dose of trade rumors from around the NHL.
So without further ado, let’s light it up!
Detroit Red Wings trade rumors
Steve Yzerman will be on the lookout for a goaltender for his team this offseason. It is unlikely that he will try to re-sign 36 year-old unrestricted free agent, Jimmy Howard. The career Red Wing only won two games this season, but could be a veteran backup for a young team.
According to MLIVE, Yzerman could find a fit in UFA goalies Cam Talbot (CGY), Thomas Greiss (NYI), or Aaaron Dell (SJ). The Wings’ GM could also try and trade for a young goaltender, like the Rangers RFA, Alexandar Georgiev if the price is right. Another potential trade candidate would be the St. Louis Blues former number one, Jake Allen.
New York Rangers trade rumors
In a recent article by Larry Brooks, he rationalizes trading Ryan Strome based on how Filip Chytil performs in these playoffs. The notion simply doesn’t compute in my mind, even if Chytil were to set the world ablaze in the post season.
If Chytil, who will skate between Phil Di Giuseppe and Kaapo Kakko when the series opens on Saturday, makes an impact in the tournament, management could have more reason to believe that No. 72 could step up and center Panarin next year. That could prompt the team to attempt to deal Strome, who recorded a career-high 59 points (18-41) in 70 games after having averaged 35 points (14-21) over his five full NHL seasons split among the Islanders, Oilers and Rangers.
Larry Brooks, NY Post
Currently, the Rangers lack depth at center in their prospect pipeline. Why on Earth would you move a player like Strome who has shown he could play top minutes with your best player, Artemi Panarin?
If the rationale is that Chytil is the future 2nd line center, he is only 20 and is no lock to be a top six forward yet. It just doesn’t add up, and any rumors about trading him due to the cap should simply stop.
Will the Rangers listen to offers this summer? That will most assuredly be the case but they better have a plan in the middle if they do move Strome.
Columbus Blue Jackets trade rumors

The oft-injured power forward, Josh Anderson is once again being mentioned as a potential trade candidate this off-season. He is 26 years-old, so if the Jackets do look to move him there will be several teams ready to bite.
In the past, the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers were said to be interested.
Ottawa Senators trade rumors
Well it will be another big off-season for the Ottawa Senators to get themselves right. According to column in The Athletic, it sure looks like they will be walking away from many of their free agents.
The two biggest names on the list are goaltender, Craig Anderson and winger, Mikkel Boedker. Will the suns be in the market for a goalie this summer? Or do they believe 25 year-old Marcus Hogberg is the future.
