Conor Garland finds a home with Canucks; signs 5-year, $24.75M contract

All he wanted was a place to call home. The Vancouver Canucks signed newly acquired forward Conor Garland to a five-year, $24.75 million contract on Tuesday. His AAV is $4.95M.

“We’re pleased to have reached a long-term deal with Conor today,” general manager Jim Benning said. “He’s a skilled young player who plays hard, produces offensively and will complement our top-six forward group.”

The Canucks acquired Garland, 25, last Friday from the Arizona Coyotes along with defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson in a pre-draft trade for a package of players and draft picks.

Garland registered 39 points (12 goals, team-high 27 assists) and 26 penalty minutes in 49 games with Arizona last season.

He has totaled 96 points (47 goals, 49 assists) in 164 games since being selected by the Coyotes in the fifth round of the 2015 NHL Draft.
