Seattle Kraken expansion draft set for July 21, 2021

Ron Francis has assuredly been planning and projecting who may be available to him via the expansion rules. Here’s what he and the Seattle Kraken are dealing with:

  • 40 games requirement is now 27 games played
  • 70 games requirement is now 54 games played
  • Teams can either protect 7 forwards, 3 defenseman, and 1 goalie
  • Or 8 skaters and 1 goalie
  • Teams are required to expose at least 2 forwards, 1 defenseman, 1 goalie
  • Players with a NMC must be protected unless player waives it
  • First and Second years pros are exempt
  • Seattle must select one player from each team
  • Seattle must hit at least 60% of the salary cap
